Red Plast Sarl Secures Tax Exemptions for New Recycling Facility in Douala
(Business in Cameroon) - Red Plast Sarl, a Cameroonian company, has secured significant tax and customs exemptions for its new solid waste recycling and valorization project in Douala. The exemptions, granted under the 2013 law promoting private investment in Cameroon, will last between five and ten years. A formal agreement to this effect was signed on February 17 in Yaoundé, between the company´s directors and officials from the Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (APME).
The project, worth over CFA1.3 billion, aims to create 166 new jobs in addition to the 25 positions already held by Red Plast employees. The company, based in Cameroon’s economic capital, has been involved for years in collecting, removing, recycling, and repurposing plastic waste. It converts this waste into finished products, such as paving stones used for floor coverings. With this new project, Red Plast hopes to expand its production capacity and make a greater impact in the recycling sector.
